PL-1276	Erie x9600 Inidan Accss	Cherokee, Geronimo, Fighting Eagle (Cherokee, Geronimo, Fighting Eagle)	In order to issue Chief Cherokee, 4 molds were needed: 1. Body mold - PL-1274 (5 April, 1965) 2. Soft Acc Mold - PL-1275 (after 29 March, 1965) 3. Hard Acc Mold - this PL-1276 (23 April, 1965) 4. Head/Hand mold - PL-1277 (after 12 March, 1965) so Chief Cherokee could not have been produced until 23 April 1965. Likely a few weeks after, so Chief Cherokee is likely to have been first issued in May of 1965.

I have seen a molded Geronimo head with the headband as part of the sculpt. This was obviously changed to having a seperate accessory headband. Maybe because none of the other head accessories (feathered headdress, buffalo horn headdress, feathered headband and ceremonial mask) would fit the sculpt with the headband.
PL-1274-2	2063 Cherokee Indian Dup. Mold	Chief Cherokee (Chief Cherokee)	Comments on this page indicate that Chief Cherokee got clevis pins on October 2nd, 1970 but Fighting Eagle did not get them until March 26, 1973. This should mean that all 'flesh / red' colored arms do not have clevis pins and that some 'carmal / darker' arms don not have clevis pins.... I have to verify this and try to figure out why it took Marx so long to change this mold.

Fighting Eagle got clevis pins on March 26th, 1973. Interesting possibility indicated by the hand written note: It seems that Fighting Eagle may have been conceived with the Cherokee torso but then it was decided to give him a 'New' body with bare chest. The other possibility of this note is that the writer is just highlighting that this is a new type of indian body - being bare chested... Hmmm...
PL-1274-A	1864 Indian w brush hair Cut Fighting Eagle	Fighting Eagle (Fighting Eagle)	This PL Page states the changes made to the Chief Cherokee PL (PL-1274) in order to produce Fighting Eagle. The use of NEW threw me for a while but I believe it just means that this is a new set of parts for Fighting Eagle as compared to Chief Cherokee. I had originally thought that it might mean that F.E. was issued with the cherokee torso and then changed. Maybe that is why the first UK Fighting Eagle's used the Cherokee bodies - easier than getting the new molds from the US for the Bare Chested version.
PL-1312	12 inch New Design Horse	Flame (Flame)	Interesting about the note on the different PL numbers for different colors… The molds shouldn't be categorized by the color of plastic used. Are there subtle differences between the 'Palomino' and 'Chestnut' versions of Flame?? According to the Specification Sheets, Flame was also going to be issued in Black.

Could these be seperate mold parts that were inserted to create the hollow cavities for the neck post, arm and hip springs???
PL-1266-1	Articulated Cowboy (Erie X9400)	Johnny West (Johnny West)	There's a lot of information on this page. 1. Johnny was made after March of 1965 so the order of figures would be: Nonarticulated Stony, Daniel Boone, Articulated Stony and then Johnny West (both articulated Stony and Johnny have dates in March but since the picture is dated May, I believe Johnny came after the articulated stony). 2. The arms and legs were changed in 1970 indicating when the mold was changed to allow for the clevis pins in shoulders and rivets in hips. 3. Some new mold was made for Canada in 1973 but never shipped. Was this a new design or just a duplicate mold?? 4. Since this has an Erie, PA mold number it is my belief that this set was first produced in Erie, PA and then the molds were either duplicated for the Glen Dale plant or more likely, shipped, to Glen Dale for normal production. 5. The PL numbers indicated on this page 1266, 1266-1, 1266-2, 1266-3 indicate that there were actually 4 Johnny West body molds made over time.

This would make the QD versions of Johnny and Sam the last 12 figures designed by Marx.

So the mold for Sheriff Garrett body was created in April and the Johnny West hard accessory set was modified in June by adding the stars, indicating that Sheriff Garrett went into production in June or July of 1973. This also indicates when the Best of the West Johnny version had the stars added to the set - June of 1973.
PL-1266-2A	Item no 5062 QD Johnny West Legs, Arms etc	Johnny West QD (Johnny West QD)	This would indicate that the original molds were used for the QD version of Johnny by blocking off the torso section of the mold. And then PL-1602 was created for the new body and arms in May of 1975.
PL-1268-A	5062 Johnny West Quick Draw Access Mold	Johnny West QD (Johnny West QD)	Date ordered block: 2/5/65 by Erie. Dates are a little confusing on this. I believe Marx just used the original PL page and added the parts for the pistol with pin and the Sheriff Garrett stars to this set and kept the original PL Page information.
PL-1307	11 1/2 International Secret Agent Poly Acc.	Mike Hazzard (Mike Hazzard)	Mold Contains list shows 2 Keys but the actual sample shows 3 keys. Either a typO in the mold contains list or a last minute change to the actual mold. Simplest solution is that it is just a typO on this PL page.

This may be the original James West mold but with new inserts for the original cavities. PL1348 or PL 1348A (if exist) may shed more light on this puzzle. This also indicates that the leg molds were changed for regular Sam when QD Sam was issued. Because of the torso change the legs had to be modified but they used them for the regular Sam too.

Looking at the sequence of PL numbers written on the page, it would indicate that Stony was made first, and then the PL 1242-A or -1 was created for Daniel Boone and then PL 1242B was created for Jed Gibson. So, we can assume that Stony was actually the first 12 inch figure produced by Marx.
PL-1243	Erie Stony Fig. no. 19942 Rifle assortment	Stony Smith (Stony Smith)	Since this has an Erie, PA mold number it is my belief that Stony was first produced in Erie, PA and then the molds were either duplicated for the Glen Dale plant or more likely, shipped, to Glen Dale for normal production. The fact that this mold contains "2 extra parachute releases" may explain why there seems to be more of these pieces than actual parachutes since each stony figure got this accessory set but only the paratrooper versions got the parachutes.

But since this PL page does not mention the original Erie mold number it might mean that this mold was the Glen Dale set and that Stony was made in both Erie, PA and Glen Dale, WV for a time.

Since this mold also has the parachute releases like PL-1243 it means that this little accessory was produced in doubles unless Marx blocked them off during production. So did the paratrooper versions of Stony actually have two parachute harness buckles??
PL-1255	2058 Articulated Stoney Smith	Stony Smith (Stony Smith)	This PL Page would indicate that the articulated Stony (originally called Stoney) was made in Glen Dale and was put into production after March 1965 by the dates on the pictures. So the order of figure production may be Non-articulated Stony Daniel Boone Articulated Stony (which could be the first figure to use the new elbow and knee joints)

PL-1273	Erie X-9590 Horse	Thunderbolt (Thunderbolt)	PL number on photos different then official number. Shows that Thunderbolt was originally made in Erie, PA. Shows that the wheels for the wagon horse and the knight horses were added in Feb 28th, 1968. Does that mean that no solid hoof Thunderbolts were made after the mold was changed?
